Castelar School

Founded in 1882, Castelar School is the second oldest elementary school out of the four hundred in the Los Angeles Unified School District. As the only elementary school in Chinatown, its enrollment has reflected the diverse and constantly changing demographics of the neighborhood, with Italian, French, Croatian, Chinese Latino and Southeast Asian students attending Castelar throughout its over 135 years.
