Pacific Alliance Medical Center

531 W. College Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012

The Pacific Alliance Medical Center, originally the French Hospital, built in 1869 by the French Benevolent Association, is the oldest hospital standing in Los Angeles.  It initially supported the French population, but expanded its services to serve all, including the newer Italian and Chinese communities.

In 1989, the Pacific Alliance Medical Center purchased the hospital and restructured the operation.  The Joan of Arc statue on College Ave is a reminder of the hospital’s French legacy.
